Aleka Demorris is a custom fashion designer who began sewing at the tender age of 15. She started designing professionally in 2006, and she hasn’t been able to focus her attention anywhere else since then. She is a graduate of The Art Institute of Philadelphia, where she obtained an Associates of Science Degree in Fashion Design. She received the coveted “Best Overall Collection Award” upon graduating college. Aleka Demorris has worked with various artist and influential people in the DMV, including but not limited to Tayvon Wilson of the New England Patriots, Fatz Da Big Fella of Wale’s BOA record label, Queen Charis of The Queen Charis Show on The CW Network, and Anwan Glover of HBO’s “The Wire”. In October 2013, she was awarded one of the most positive black woman promoters in the DMV. She plans to operate her own chain of boutiques soon. Her style is very feminine and fashion forward and she wants the people around her to display these characteristic. She most recently has worked rapper Lola Monroe, model Lena Chase, singer Lil’ Mo, America’s Next Top Model Isis King, and Miami Tip of Love and Hip Hop Miami fame. Her first New York Fashion Show in February 2018 was a major success, with critical acclaim. On October 4, 2020 she was nominated for and won the “Designer Does It Best” Award at the Indie Honors in Washington,DC. Aleka Demorris is definitely the next best thing.
